Waiting is hard. We wait for food at a restaurant, we wait at a red light, we wait to open our gifts at Christmas… waiting just sucks.
That will be the case once again for those wanting to feel that torque of the 2016 Mazda6 SKYACTIV-D. But the wait could be totally worth it according to Jim O’Sullivan–the company’s North American CEO.
It has been more than two years after it was first announced that Mazda’s SKYACTIV-D diesel engine would make it to the U.S. and it doesn’t appear in the future that will change, for now.
The 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine was originally slated for the Mazda 6 mid-size sedan, but concerns over performance have continually delayed it and that’s is reportedly still the case.
The diesel engine still doesn’t have the performance Mazda wants, Jim O’Sullivan–the company’s North American CEO–told industry trade journal Ward’s Auto at the recent Chicago Auto Show.
Let’s just hope that the Mazda gets if figured out and we have it soon. Now, if they could only bring that hot Mazda6 wagon to the states with that motor as well..That would definitely be worth the wait to so many.
